Razer Blade Pro Laptop: Features And Specifications

razer blade pro laptop

When it comes to gaming laptops there are 3 main categories.

The meh. Those uninspiring posers that promise you heaven on earth while giving you a hellish gaming experience that results in you throwing it to the wall.

The ok. These are gaming laptops that deliver on their promises. Gaming rigs that actually transport you into otherworldly realms for unimaginable adventures.

When you’ve had your fill of these gaming laptops, there’s one more category every serious gamer must get into, or at least dreams of.

The Razer Blade Pro

I know what you are thinking. This is a gaming laptop brand and model, not a category.

You are right.

But the Razer Blade Pro is too legendary of a gaming laptop to fit in a category with other laptops.

In short, there are gaming laptops, and then there’s the Razer Blade Pro.

I can guess you are not convinced. That’s why I came prepared with a Razer Blade Pro review. And I know if you can stick around for the next few minutes, you’ll get to know this legendary gaming rig for what it really is – larger than life.

And it comes with a price tag to match.

Today, the Razer Blade Pro sits enthroned as king of the gaming laptops, and that for very good reasons. Let’s take a look at its specifications before we do anything else. Brace yourself for a jaw-dropping experience.

If this were a bomb, it would probably be a nuclear bomb. The power packed in this gaming laptop is nothing but amazing – especially considering the size of the chassis it has been packed in.

Let get straight into our Razer Blade Pro review and see exactly what you will be getting with this titan of a laptop.

computer games seen as 3d on a gaming laptop

If there’s one thing Razer has been doing very well over the years (and there are many), it’s making good looking gaming laptops. Gaming laptops have been known to be huge machines treading the thin line between laptop and desktop replacement computer – and we all know how big and ugly those things are. The Razer Blade Pro is a slim stunner. Comparing it to other gaming laptops would be like pitting Beyonce against a gorilla in a beauty pageant – it just won’t be fair.

Looking at the Razer Blade Pro, you can’t help but admire the matte black aluminum exterior that is disrupted by the glowing emerald 3 headed snake that has become a status symbol in the gaming world. Add to that the matching matte black interior, the glossy 4K screen, the keyboard backlights that come to life when you lift the lid, and the unibody construction and you can’t help but gasp in awe and amazement at such beauty – especially coming from a gaming laptop.

This is luxury at its best

The keyboard itself is a first for portable computers – a mechanical keyboard that feels perfect when clicking away as you type or pounding it as you fire away some nukes at some alien invaders. The tactile response is definitely something to write home about.

While you are still writing home, you can also include the marvelous Chroma lighting that lights the keyboard and the trackpad. You won’t find such beautiful and fully customizable backlighting anywhere soon.

When it comes to dimensions, the Razer Blade Pro is an engineering marvel.

Coming in at 7.7 pounds and measuring 16.7 x 11 x 0.89-inches, the Razer Blade Pro is the slimmest and lightest gaming laptop on the market – in the 17-inch category that is. The closest rival, when it comes to weight and slimness, is the Asus ROG G701VI coming in at 7.9 pounds and measuring 16.9 x 12.2 x 1.3-inches. Weighing in at 9.6 pounds and measuring 16.7 x 13.1 x 1.2 inches, the Alienware 17 is also no match for the Razer Blade Pro.

If you don’t mind downgrading the display to a 1080p, you can get the Razer Blade Pro at an even more amazing weight of 6.1 pounds. If you travel around with your gaming laptop that might just be the better configuration for you.

Because of its slim profile, the Razer Blade Pro doesn’t come with as many ports as other gaming laptops have, but it has enough to give you the best you need for a great gaming experience, and a bit more.

On the right side, you’ll find a USB 3.0 port, Thunderbolt 3, a card reader, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a Kensington security lock slot. The left-hand side features 2 more USB 3.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a headset jack, and a proprietary power jack.

The Razer Blade Pro was built to impress, and one way it does that is the powerful graphics sponsored by the 4K display and Nvidia’s G Sync technology. The clarity and brightness you will get from this panel is nothing short of being transported into the world of combat, adventure, and zombies. That’s just how clear the display is. In the color test, the Razer Blade Pro did exceptionally well, managing to reproduce 178 percent of the sRGB color gamut, well above the mainstream average of 123 percent.

It performed better than the Alienware 17 and the Asus ROG G701VI’s 113 percent. However, the HP Predator 17X managed to give a more vivid display, reproducing 182 percent.

Even the Razer Blade Pro’s 1080p screen is better than most, managing to reproduce 126 percent of the sRGB color gamut.

When it comes to screen brightness, you’ll definitely enjoy starring at this screen in any environment as both the 4K and 1080p displays scored high marks of 320 nits and 334 nits of brightness respectively. This is way better than the mainstream average of 291 nits.

Even the Razer Blade Pro’s competitors were easily cut by its brightness, with the HP Predator 17X scoring 318 nits, the Asus ROG G701VI scoring 277 nits. The only gaming laptop that managed to outshine the Razer Blade Pro is the Alienware 17 with its out of this world brightness of 340 nits.

The final test was the Delta-E accuracy where the Razer Blade Pro scored an impressive 0.3, with zero being the perfect score. The mainstream average is 1.3. Again, the Razer Blade Pro proved that it definitely isn’t your average gaming laptop. In comparison, the Alienware 17 scored 0.5, the Asus ROG G701VI a poor 1.6 while the HP Predator 17X and Origin’s Eon 17-X proved to be more accurate panels with 0.18 and 0.14 respectively.

Gaming, Graphics, Audio, and VR Experience

child wearing a headset while playing online games using two large monitors of his computer

One mistake many people make when they set eyeballs on the Razer Blade Pro is relegating it to a puny gaming laptop that only offers a “meh” experience.

Despite its extremely slim profile, the Razer Blade Pro is powered by the most powerful GPU you can get in a portable PC - the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU with 8GB of VRAM.

Put to the Rise of the Tomb Raider benchmark, the 4K iteration of the Razer Blade Pro managed a frame rate of 73 fps at 1080p on very high settings, beating the mainstream average of  53-fps by far.

The Razer Blade Pro also managed to outplay the other GTX 1080 GPU kitted machines in its category, namely the Alienware 17 (62 fps), HP’s Predator 17X (66 fps), and Origin’s Eon 17-X (66 fps). The 1080p version of the Razer Blade Pro (GeForce GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB VRAM) managed a frame rate of 35 fps.

And with VR gaming taking over the gaming world, there’s no better gaming laptop to enjoy your VR titles than the Razer Blade Pro. Whether you have the HTC Vive or an Oculus Rift, the Razer Blade Pro will take you straight into the action. Put to the StreamVR Performance test, the Razer Blade Pro maxed out the test, getting the highest score possible – 11.

And when it comes to gaming, the experience is not complete without a great sound system.

The Razer Blade Pro does not disappoint in this aspect. If anything, it actually impresses as it is the first laptop to gain THX certification. What this simply means is that 3.5mm jack on the side of the laptop is now able to handle high-performance headphones.

THX certification aside, the Razer Blade Pro also has some of the best speakers you’ll find on any laptop as they can easily fill any room without some explosive sounds.

Performance and Power

Sporting a powerful overclocked 2.9-GHz Intel Core i7-7820HK CPU with 32GB of RAM, the Razer Blade Pro is one beast of a machine when it comes to performance. Even the less powerful 1080p iteration will give you superior performance with its 2.8-GHz Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with 16GB of RAM. Lag is not in any of these 2 machines dictionaries as they handle multitasking with ease – even with multiple streaming, multiple Google tabs open, and all the while running full-system scan in the background.

Put to the task of matching 20,000 names and addresses in a spreadsheet, the Razer Blade Pro beat the mainstream average time of 3 minutes 25 seconds to do it in 3 minutes and 16 seconds. The HP Predator 17X came trailing behind at 3:41 and the Eon 17X came in last with a time of 3:47.

The Razer Blade Pro was, however, slower than the Asus ROG G701VI’s 2 minutes 59 seconds and the Alienware 17’s astounding 1 minute 47 seconds.

As for file transfer rates, the Razer Blade Pro managed to copy 5GB worth of files in an amazing 15 seconds, translating to 339 MBps. Great as this is, it still failed to beat the mainstream average of 540.3 MBps.

But it was still better than the Alienware 17’s 228 MBps.

However, in this round, the Razer Blade Pro was trounced by the Asus ROG G701VI (512GB m.2 PCIe SSDs) and HP Predator 17’s (dual 256GB SSDs) 1,272 MBps.

Whether you are gaming or doing some serious work, the Razer Blade Pro is more than capable of giving more than adequate power and performance.

But all this power and performance comes at a price in a laptop, and for the Razer Blade Pro, that price is battery life. Shocking as it may sound, the Razer Blade Pro only manages a runtime of just shy of 2 hours on a single charge. Yep! Don’t forget to carry your charger if you are ever to throw this beast in a backpack. And if your commute is long, forget about doing much.

If you plan on doing a lot of commuting with your rig, you’d better settle for the 1080p iteration as it has the best battery life in the category, managing to go an astounding 6 hours and 11 minutes, shaming every other system in the category.

The Razer Blade Pro – Beauty, Brawns, and Bragging Rights

All things considered, the Razer Blade Pro is one heck of a gaming laptop that will give you superb performance and power, while making you look good too.

With this gaming rig in your possession, you definitely deserve bragging rights – after all, not everyone can afford to upgrade to monster machines of this caliber, not just in price, but in performance.

Ready for some cutting-edge gaming?

If so, then the Razer Blade Pro is also ready for you.

Your Guide In Choosing Cheap Laptops With Great Performance

man using and typing in one of the cheap laptops in the market

We’ve all been there- a period in our life when we just don’t have a lot of money to spare. If you are currently in that type of situation, or if you’re just someone who likes to save money where you can, you’ll be glad to know that there are lots of cheap laptops available.

The key is simply knowing how to find quality laptops that are affordable but will still work great for you. Fortunately, we’ve got some excellent suggestions here. Follow them, and you can find an awesome laptop well within your price range in no time at all.

Comparison Table

Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series i3147 11.6-inch Convertible 2 in 1...
  • Intel Celeron Processor N2840 (1M Cache, up to 2.58 GHz)
  • 4GB Single Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (4GBx1)
  • 500GB 5400 rpm SATA Hard Drive

If you can spare a couple hundred of dollars or sometimes less depending on where you go, this offering from Dell is a great option.

It is very small and compact, as are most of the laptops that you’ll find at these low of prices. However, many people really like the compact nature of the laptop and the fact that it’s easily portable.

In addition to the small size, you’ll enjoy 100GB of cloud storage and two gigs of RAM. That’s not a lot, but it’s still pretty good for the price.

We also like that you can choose from different colors for this laptop. Go with a glossy blue, a clean white, or a subtle gray. In addition to being able to customize the computer, you’ll enjoy the HDMI hookup, the USB port, the MicroSD slot, and the anti-glare screen.

All in all, this definitely isn’t a bad option, especially given the price.

ASUS C302CA-DHM4 Chromebook Flip 12.5-inch Touchscreen Convertible...
  • The flexible 360 Degree hinge and 12.5" full-HD touchscreen lets you use the C302 in tablet or laptop mode
  • Intel Core Processor with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM for fast and efficient performance with a bright backlit illuminated keyboard
  • Extremely lightweight at 2.65 pounds with the protection of a sleek aluminum metal body

You can usually find this option from Asus at just under five hundred. Thus, it’s certainly not the cheapest on our list, but it’s a lot cheaper than many other products currently on the market.

We like the fact that it features a convertible hinge. And, for the price and size, it also has a surprising amount of storage and memory. It even features an HD screen, which you won’t find on the above option or on most cheaper options.

Crafted from strong metal and featuring two USB ports, this chromebook is a great offering for the price. Just bear in mind that all legacy connections will require adaptors, a feature that is a little annoying at first but ultimately not a big deal.

HP Stream 11 Pro G4 11.6" LCD Netbook - Intel Celeron N3350 Dual-core...
  • Full Product Specifications: Click to view
  • Processor Manufacturer: Intel
  • Processor Type: Celeron

We really like the HP Stream 11, which has some awesome features, especially for the around a couple of hundred price tag, depending on where you shop.

To start with, one big bonus is that it comes with a one-year subscription to Office 365 included. Already, that feature offers up big savings since this program can be quite costly.

Other extras include the 60 free Skype minutes you’ll enjoy each month and the free terabyte of cloud storage. All in all, you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck with this option.

Other features include plenty of ports and a built-in webcam. We do wish a backlit keyboard had been included, but, even without it, we still think this laptop is pretty great.

Acer Chromebook Spin 11 Convertible Laptop, Celeron N3350, 11.6" HD...
  • Intel Celeron N3350 Dual-Core Processor (Up to 2.4GHz)
  • 11.6" HD (1366 x 768) Multi-touch widescreen LED-backlit IPS display
  • 4GB DDR4 Onboard Memory, 32GB Storage

If you want a cheap laptop that also has a touch display, look no further than this Acer Chromebook.

It has a great battery life that enables it to run for several hours without charging. Plus, its keyboard and touchpad are attractive and easy to use.

The Chromebook even comes complete with several different ports and a stylus. We wish that this laptop wasn’t quite as heavy as it is, and the webcam could stand to be better. It also can be a little slow to boot up and to work in general, but if you can get past those things, you’ll end up with a decent product at a fair price.

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-57D4 15.6-Inches Full HD Notebook (7th Gen...
  • 7th Generation Intel Core i5-7200U Processor (Up to 3.1GHz)
  • 15.6" Full HD Widescreen Comfy View LED-backlit Display supporting Acer Color Blast technology
  • NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2GB of GDDR5 Video Memory

Acer is known for offering compact but very affordable laptops, which is why it gets another mention on our list. We really love the Acer Aspire E, which fits perfectly into both the compact and affordable categories.

Plus, it actually has a DVD drive. A lot of the time, DVD drives are the first thing to go when it comes to making a laptop more affordable or making it smaller. However, this Acer offering actually does include a DVD drive. It also has legacy ports, performs well, and even has a surprisingly long battery life.

In fact, we have to say that it is one of our favorite selections of all.

ASUS 10.1” Transformer Mini T102HA-D4-GR, 2in1 Touchscreen Laptop,...
  • Versatile Windows 10 device with keyboard and pen included, 2-in-1 functionality: use as both laptop and tablet.Update Windows periodically to ensure that your applications have the latest security settings.
  • All day battery life, rated up to 11 hours of video playback; 128GB Solid State storage. Polymer Battery. With up to 11 hours between charges, you can be sure that Transformer Mini T102HA will be right there whenever you need it. You can charge T102HA via its micro USB port, so you can use a mobile charger or any power bank with a micro USB connector.
  • Latest Intel Atom Quad Core x5-Z8350 Processor with 4GB RAM for fast and efficient performance.T102HA is small in size, but big on connectivity. Dimensions: 10.2" x 6.7" x 0.5"

If you’re looking for a very light, very compact computer, the Asus Transformer Mini will serve you well.

Not only is it super lightweight, both in terms of the construction and the price, but it even comes complete with some extras. These include a stylish keyboard cover, a stylus, a USB port, and a finger print reader.

Sometimes, the keyboard and touchpad didn’t work or respond as quickly as we might have liked, but this is a great computer in general and can typically be purchased for less than five hundred.

Samsung Chromebook Pro Convertible Touch Screen Laptop, 12.3...
  • Display: 12.3" 2400x1600, 3:2,400nit
  • Intel Core M3 Processor 6Y30 ; 2.2Ghz Speed
  • 4GB LPDDR3 Memory (on BD 4GB); Battery Life: 9 hours

Samsung has always been considered one of the better computer brands out there, and we’d certainly say that’s true if the performance of this Samsung device is indicative of the kind of quality the brand puts out.

It comes complete with several Android apps, but, don’t worry. It only includes the ones you’ll really need, and they won’t slow down the general performance of your laptop either. You’ll also enjoy a nice stylus.

The Samsung is a little more expensive (depending on where you buy) than most of the other items on our list. But, honestly, for the quality and the great brand name, we think that little bit of extra money will be well spent.

Dell Chromebook 11 3189 T8TJG 11.6-Inch Traditional Laptop (Black)
  • Celeron N3060 Processor; 4GB Memory; 64GB eMMC drive
  • 11.6" HD IPS Touch LCD
  • 10 hours of battery life

If you want to spend less than four hundred dollars, we highly recommend this computer from Dell.

First of all, it is wonderful if you need something that has super long battery life. Typically, you will get over eleven hours of power on a full charge. That’s pretty amazing and perfect for the “on the go” type of person. It also has a spill-proof design that can really help you out if you’re the type to spill drinks on your computer.

With that said, this laptop is far from perfect. The screen is very low resolution, which can sometimes result in less than stellar picture quality. This probably isn’t a laptop you’ll want to watch your favorite movies on. Also, we really wish it had a USB-C port.

However, aside from some small imperfections, this is a fairly great little laptop, but really, we’ve come to expect nothing less from Dell.

2018 Lenovo ThinkPad 13 13.3" HD Business Laptop Computer, Intel Core...
  • Intel Core i3-7100U Processor(3M Cache, 2.40 GHz )
  • 13.3" HD (1366x768) anti-glare, LED backlight w/720p Camera
  • 8GB DDR4 2133 SoDIMM Memory, 128GB Solid State Drive M.2

This computer is in the four hundred dollar range via most retailers. All in all, though, we think it offers pretty good bang for your buck.

The keyboard works really well and is made in such a way that it’s actually comfortable to use, which isn’t something you typically find with laptops. It also has stellar battery life and a screen that is easy to adjust to your liking, another feature that all too many laptops leave out.

The main downside with this computer is that the audio isn’t great. We also wish that it featured a backlit keyboard and more diverse software options. Still, though it’s not a bad choice if you are looking for a basic laptop from a brand you can count on.

Lenovo Flex 14 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop, 14 Inch HD (1366 X 768)...
  • HIGH PERFORMANCE LAPTOP: The Flex 14 laptop is equipped with Intel Pentium 4415U Processor, Windows 10, 4GB DDR4, 128GB PCIe SSD and so much more
  • FLEXIBLE & ADAPTABLE: Featuring polished aluminum surfaces and a 360° hinge that effortlessly transitions from tablet to laptop mode and back, the Flex 14 is as stylish as it is adaptable. And at 3.67 lbs., you'll be able to bring it anywhere the day takes you
  • HD DISPLAY: You'll see every frame in crisp detail on the Lenovo Flex 14's wide-angle HD display, edged with narrow bezels and featuring 220 nits brightness. Your sound will pop too, with the virtual surround sound experience of Harman Speakers optimized with Dolby Audio Premium

Lenovo is not known for making cheap laptops, which is why it probably surprises you to see another offering from the company on our list.

However, we couldn’t resist adding this laptop, which you can typically find for under three hundred via most retailers.

There is a lot to love with this computer. To start with, it’s got battery power that can last for hours and hours, perfect for those who lead busy lifestyles. It is also very well-built and can stand up to a surprising amount of wear and tear, especially given its super small size.

We also love the fact that it actually comes with a USB-C port, which a lot of laptops neglect to add.

As is the case with the last Lenovo option, we do wish the keyboard was backlit. Plus, the design can be a little awkward. We found it was too easy to accidentally hit various buttons, including the power button.

Once you get the hang of this laptop, though, it’s actually pretty easy to use and, all in all, not a bad choice for the person on a budget.

Best 2 in 1 Laptops: Our Top Choices in the Market Today

Our Top Choice Of The Best 2 In 1 Laptops In The Market Today

For many years, if you need a legitimate portable computer, your best bet is to get a laptop. After which, mobile operating systems and processors have become more powerful, you now have another choice: a tablet.

A tablet sacrifices power and functionality in place of superior convenience and usability by removing the physical keyboard and adding a touchscreen interface. So, it didn’t take long for manufacturers to realize that all it takes is to remove the keyboard to turn one into the other.

Thus, 2 in 1 laptops came into the picture and it’s become its own product category.

Today, we’re going to list some of the best 2 in 1 laptops the market has to offer. But first, let’s define what makes a portable computer a 2 in 1 laptop.

What Exactly is a 2 in 1 Laptop?

person using tablet together with her laptop to search the internet

To put it simply, a 2 in 1 is either a detachable hybrid tablet or convertible hybrid laptop which is touch optimized. This portable device comes with both a touchscreen and a physical keyboard of some type.

The best thing about a 2 in 1 portable device is that you can switch between the two modes whenever you wish, usually in the most seamless manner. At one point, you can easily use the touchscreen mode for the best convenience and if you want to type faster, you can just snap the physical keyboard in its place.

Having said that, a 2 in 1 laptop is pretty much a PC with a full operating system, usually a Windows 10 or Chrome OS. There are reports that Apple is looking to tap into the market of hybrid laptops which could end up to be an interesting development.

The Best 2 in 1 Laptops for 2018

We did the research and tested the following units, so you don’t have to. Below are some of the best hybrid laptops that you can find in the market.

Not a fan of Windows 10? The Google Pixelbook might just be the unit for you since it’s loaded with Chrome OS. Many people are not exactly to Chromebooks but the Pixelbook is special.

The Pixelbook is a Chromebook that sports a great design and you can use a stylus. Since it’s a Chromebook, you will have native access to various Google apps and services, thanks to the full Android app integration. The laptop comes with a 7th Gen Intel Core i5 processor which is more than enough to handle the most basic computing tasks with ease.

As mentioned, it supports a stylus in the form of the Pixelbook Pen. In other versions of the product, you have to purchase the pen separately. However, we do recommend the pen as it does an excellent job of alleviating much of the difficulties that you can expect from using Android apps via a laptop. The only downside is that the pen doesn’t attach to the Pixelbook.

We’re not going to sugarcoat the fact that the Pixebook is an expensive Chromebook but it’s an incredibly powerful tool for students and general users.

For under three hundred, you get a 2 in 1 laptop with features that you will usually see from a thousand dollar model. The portable PC comes in an all-aluminum chassis which is quite durable. However, the true star here is the 11.6-inch screen that is capable of displaying a max resolution of 1920 x 1080. The display is quite colorful and vibrant and offers better viewing experience than units twice or thrice its price.

It also comes with an impressive stylus that supports up to 1,024 levels of pressure. As you would expect from a budget unit, the Spin 1 is only equipped with a Celeron processor and 32GB of storage. So it’s not as powerful as most models on this list but it makes for a great secondary device. The battery life leaves a lot to be desired as well.

The Acer Spin 1 offers great value if you just consider its features. However, we recommend that you get the 64GB version as opposed to the 32GB one.

The competition among the 13-inch 360-degree convertible laptops is fierce but the HP Spectre x360 puts up a good fight.

The Spectre x360 is a beautifully designed and lightweight portable unit. In fact, it’s lighter, faster, and cheaper than the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The Spectre x360 boasts a strikingly thin frame and only weighs about 2.78 pounds. However, despite its thin design, this 2 in 1 packs a lot in terms of performance.

We’ve run intensive programs like Lightroom Classic CC for editing images and I must say that the Spectre x360 has performed admirably with its smooth performance. The display is not the best out there but it’s sharp and bright which is great for daily tasks, web surfing, and watching movies. While it doesn’t feel that rugged, the unit is surprisingly quite tough and survived a couple of falls.

The Spectre x360 is a flexible machine with an impressive performance and battery life.

If you are looking for a 2 in 1 with a large screen, the ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 gets our highest recommendation.

The 14-inch screen supports up to 1920 x 1080 resolution and provides a wide range of viewing angles. The glossy surface of the screen can give annoying reflections and brightness is just about adequate. On the other hand, the colors of vibrant and accurate, with deep contrast and saturated hues.

For the touchscreen operations, the ZenBook Flip 14 manages to impress with its smooth and accurate controls. The unit also comes with a handy stylus but it’s baffling that it doesn’t have a place to store it in the laptop. The stylus is battery operated and responds to 1,024 levels of pressure. Palm rejection is good in general but there are cases where it faltered.

If you want to see some gaming action, the ZenBook Flip 14 is available in a more expensive unit that comes with Nvidia's MX150 which is good for light to moderate games.

The Lenovo Miix 720 will probably remind you of Microsoft's Surface Pro. However, there are key aspects that separate Lenovo’s 2 in 1 from Microsoft’s.

The Miix 720 is packed to the brim with features from the fold-out kickstand to the IR cameras. The Thunderbolt 3 USB-C support is another great feature for accommodating many different peripherals that support the interface. For added security, you can use the IR cameras for facial recognition. Neat!

The 12-inch IPS display supports up to 2880 x 1920 pixels and looks absolutely sharp and vibrant. It’s not the best display in this list but you won’t be disappointed. Touchscreen works like a dream and the palm rejection feature is working as intended with a few mishaps here and there.

The hardware gave a pretty good performance while doing business or school work. The unit works fine while photo editing and light HD video editing. Gamers will also be pleased to know that the Miix 720 has enough oomph to handle light, casual games. If there’s one thing that we’re really disappointed with the Miix 720 is the battery life.

The Miix 720 might just be the best alternative to the Surface line.

Apple Magic Mouse 2 (Wireless, Rechargable) - Silver
  • Magic Mouse 2 is completely rechargeable, so you'll eliminate the use of traditional batteries.
  • It's lighter, has fewer moving parts thanks to its built-in battery and continuous bottom shell, and has an optimized foot design - all helping Magic Mouse 2 track easier and move with less resistance across your desk.
  • And the Multi-Touch surface allows you to perform simple gestures such as swiping between web pages and scrolling through documents.

If you are an Apple fanatic who fancies everything the company churns out, this is the mouse you need. It costs about eighty. Since Apple always thinks different, this mouse is dissimilar from all the mice mentioned above on a range of aspects. For instance, Apple skips on the scroll wheels and buttons typical of most computer mice in the markets.

Instead, Apple designs the Magic Mouse 2 with a multi-touch surface. A simple brush of a finger on the surface of the mouse is all you need to scroll through documents or swipe between Web pages. The base of the mouse has a foot design that ensures minimal desk or surface resistance when using the mouse.

It has a built-in battery that will last about a month. The mouse comes with a Lightning-to-USB cable for charging the battery. It takes about nine hours to recharge the battery fully. It connects via Bluetooth and has a 1300 DPI. The multi-touch no-button feature of this mouse is perhaps the reason why it’s quite expensive.

Logitech M330 Silent Plus Wireless Mouse – Enjoy Same Click Feel...
  • ULTRA-QUIET MOUSE - 90% reduced click sound and same click feel eliminates noise and distractions for you and others around you
  • QUIET MARK CERTIFICATION - Logitech is the first mouse company in the world to receive the Quiet Mark certification from the UK Noise Abatement Society that internationally recognizes technology designed to reduce noise
  • ERGONOMIC SHAPE - Designed with contoured grips made of soft rubber for total comfort

The Logitech M330 SilentPlus  reduces the sounds made by most mice up to an exceptional 90%. While you will experience the same click feel as most mice, you won’t hear the click sound itself when operating your mouse. It costs about ten to twenty dollars, depending on where you are buying it.

It has a 1000 DPI with wireless connectivity of 2.4 GHz that works over a 10-meter range. It’s also compact with a battery life of about 24 months. However, this mouse is right-handed. What’s more, it doesn’t support Bluetooth connectivity. Make sure to keep its accompanying USB dongle safe.

Asus Transformer Reviews And Specifications – Best Value 2-In-1 Laptop

asus transformer laptop

There is no greater time to live in than in our days.

Most of the technological advancements that are shaping and transforming the world are taking place right before our eyes.

In the world of portable computers, those advancements are taking place faster than most people can keep up.

To understand what I mean, you just have to look at the way laptops are becoming smaller, and yet their computing power getting much more powerful.

One such laptop comes from one of the most versatile laptop brands of our day – Asus.

And this time they bring to the market the Asus Transformer line of detachable 2-in-1 laptops.

Rise of the 2-in-1 Laptop

person using tablet together with her laptop to search the internet

Image from Lifewire

One of the fastest growing segments in the laptop market is the 2-in-1 segment. 2-in-1 laptops are devices that can easily transform from notebook mode to tablet mode. There are two ways in which this transformation can take place. The first way is by means of the laptop keyboard flipping all the way to the back of the screen. This type of 2-in-1’s are called convertibles.

The second way is by the keyboard of the device being detachable from the display, leaving you with a tablet. This type of 2-in-1 is called a detachable (for obvious reasons).

A great example is our subject for the day – the Asus Transformer.

Let’s jump into our Asus Transformer reviews and take a look at the reasons this nifty little laptop is making headlines in the world of portable computers. We’ll look at 3 models in this line of 2-in-1 computers, perhaps you’ll find one that will transform your digital life.

But first, a look at the spec sheet.

Pretty basic looking specs I know, but the performance will shock you. Before we get to that though, let’s look at the design and display first.

Design and Display

ASUS Transformer Book T100HA-C4-GR 10.1-Inch 2 in 1 Touchscreen Laptop...

The Asus Transformer Book T100HA is clad in aluminum (and is available in a number of colors), measures 0.4 x 10.3 x 6.7 inches, and weighs 1.2 pounds as a tablet. Add the keyboard dock and the weight is bumped up to 2.2 pounds and the thickness to 0.9 inches.

The Transformer Book locks into the keyboard dock at 3 connection points, 2 of which are metal clips while the third one is a proprietary port. Although a magnet keeps it in place, the connection is sturdy and the screen doesn't move around when you tap or tilt the system.

Because the laptop is a bit on the heavier side, tilting the display too far can cause the system to lean back slightly.

The Asus Transformer Book T100HA comes with a 10.3-inch touchscreen that offers a brilliant 1,280-by-800 resolution. And because the display uses In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, you will enjoy sharper images and wider viewing angles.

Ports and Connectivity

The Asus Transformer Book may be small in stature, but it’s certainly big on connectivity.

On the right side of the tablet portion, the Asus Transformer Book features a micro HDMI port, a micro-USB port for charging the system, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. The left flank sports a volume rocker and a USB-C port (something you don’t often find on a laptop in this class). The keyboard dock also has a USB 2.0 port.

As for wireless connectivity, the Asus Transformer Book comes with Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.

You certainly won’t be at a loss when it comes to connecting your peripheral devices. The only drawback here is that the Asus Transformer Book doesn’t come with a USB 3.0 port, but that can easily be solved by using an adapter via the USB-C port.

Performance and Power

ASUS Transformer Book T100HA-C4-GR 10.1-Inch 2 in 1 Touchscreen Laptop...

The Asus Transformer Book T100HA has a 1.4GHz Intel Atom quad-core processor, 4GB of memory, integrated Intel graphics, and runs on a 64-bit system. Because the Asus Transformer runs on a 64-bit Windows 10 OS system coupled to a 64-bit CPU, it has a big advantage over other systems in its class that run on 32-bit systems. The 64-bit system allows the laptop to make use of more memory and so have faster performance.

This will be a big advantage if you do a lot of video editing and 3D rendering.

As for battery life, the Asus Transformer Book T100HA has one of the best batteries amongst the 2-in-1 laptops in its class – and a few more expensive than it. When put to the test, the battery lasted a good 10 hours 32 minutes.

Overall, this is one little laptop that won’t disappoint you – in size and performance.

But if you want to up your power levels, Asus has a more powerful 2-in-1 laptop that packs quite a powerful punch despite its diminutive size.

The Asus Transformer Pro (T304UA)B06Y2Z14CK

  • Latest 7 th generation Intel Core i7 processor with 256GB SSD 8GB RAM for fast and efficient performance with a battery life rated up to 8 hours
  • Lightweight body weighs less than 1.9 lbs with keyboard attached and only .3 inches

If you have a little more money to splurge on a very portable device, the Asus Transformer Pro is a very versatile and powerful 2-in-1 laptop that you’ll definitely enjoy.

Although it gets a lot of flak for being a Microsoft Surface Pro imitation, it does a great job of it, and actually outdoes the Surface Pro in some areas.

Let’s take a closer look at this Transformer and see exactly what it has to offer. But first, the spec sheet.

Design and Display

ASUS Transformer Pro T304UA-DS71T, 2-in-1 Touchscreen 12.6” Laptop,...

The Asus Transformer Pro has design features that resemble the Surface Pro – strongly.

Featuring a sleek metallic-matte chassis with a glossy Asus logo, the Asus Transformer pro is both beautiful to behold and nice to touch.

As a tablet, the Asus Transformer Pro measures a slender 11.77 x 8.30 x 0.34 inches and weighs a mere 1.82 pounds. Not the thinnest or lightest 2-in-1 on the market, especially when compared to its main competitors.

Microsoft’s Surface Pro and HP’s Spectre x2 both weigh 1.7 pounds with the Surface Pro being 0.33-inches thin while the HP Spectre has a 0.31-inch profile.

With the keyboard cover attached, the Asus Transformer Pro weighs 2.4 pounds and has a 0.53-inch profile. The Microsoft Surface Pro comes in at 2.4 pounds and 0.54 inches while the HP Spectre x2 weighs in at 2.5 pounds and measures 0.54 inches.

The Asus Transformer Pro may not be the lightest and thinnest tablet but it certainly is one of the smallest and lightest 2-in-1s around.

One aspect of the Asus Transformer Pro you’ll definitely appreciate is that it is well equipped when it comes to ports.

Looking on the right side of the Asus Transformer Pro, you’ll find a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI connector, a USB-C 3.1 port, and the DC charging jack. On the left side, there’s a microSD card slot, a volume rocker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Asus Transformer Pro has an edge over its 2 main competitors in this regard as the Surface Pro doesn’t have a USB-C port while the Spectre x2 is missing a USB 3.0 connection (although it has 2 USB-C ports).

As for the display, the Asus Transformer Pro has a very colorful 12.5-inch display with a sharp 2160 x 1440-pixel resolution. For, movie buffs, this 2-in-1 will certainly give your eyes a pleasant experience even for those prolonged times you are focused on the screen.

Put to the color test, the Asus Transformer Pro's screen reproduced 133.7 percent of the color gamut, a better result than the HP Spectre x2’s 123 percent but slightly behind the Surface Pro’s 140 percent. As for brightness, the Transformer Pro managed to reach 233.6 nits, not the best score in its class but bright enough to give you a good user experience.

One aspect of 2-in-1 laptops that can be tricky for manufactures is the keyboard and trackpad but Asus did quite a pretty good job with theirs.

Featuring a slightly recessed keyboard with 1.5mm of key travel and requiring 71 grams of actuation, the Asus Transformer Pro gives such a good typing experience you might be tempted to think you are typing on a full-sized keyboard.

The glass-covered touchpad sits at the center of the keyboard deck and measures an impressive 4.1 x 2.3 inches, making it larger than the Surface Pro's trackpad. Besides its impressive dimensions, the trackpad on the Transformer Pro is also very responsive and supports all of Window’s multi-gestures without any issues at all.

And to add to these already awesome input devices, the Asus Transformer Pro also comes with a pen that is undoubtedly one of the best in its class.

Powered by a 7th-Gen i7 7500U CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB M.2 SSD, the Asus Transformer Pro is quite a powerful performer that will allow you to multitask with great ease. You can easily work on multiple documents with the dual Harman Kardon speakers belting out your favorite tunes and multiple tabs open in Chrome – all that without any signs of slowing down.

Put to the Open Office test, the Asus Transformer Pro matched 20 000 names and addresses in 3 minutes and 42 seconds and manages file transfer speeds of 142 megabytes per second, which is fair for a laptop its size.

Coming with an integrated HD 620 GPU, The Asus Transformer Pro is powerful enough for casual gaming, certainly not the modern games that are becoming more demanding.

Performance wise, the Asus Transformer Pro is a versatile workhorse that is capable of giving you an exceptional user experience, all while looking good too.
